A Representative Identifier (RepID) is a unique ID issued by the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) to anyone who needs to act on behalf of another individual. This can include tax professionals, bookkeepers, family members, friends, or individuals assisting other businesses, family members, legal or business employees.
A RepID allows the CRA to securely identify representatives and ensure they are properly authorized to access tax information, communicate with the CRA, and manage tax-related matters. Having a RepID is essential for protecting taxpayer privacy while allowing trusted individuals to provide support efficiently and in compliance with CRA requirements.

A RepID is a unique seven-character alphanumeric code that identifies an individual as a registered representative with Represent a Client (RAC). It does not expire so no renewals are necessary.
If you have registered for another CRA sign-in service (My Account or My Business Account), you must use the same information to access Represent a Client and obtain your RepID. You cannot register again. Simply sign in to Represent a Client using your Sign-in Partner or existing CRA user ID and password.
In order to register for a RepID for the first time, visit the Represent a Client sign-in page on Canada.ca.
Click on “Register for Represent a Client” to learn more about the different sign-in options and what you will need to start the process. Follow the steps to register with either a Sign-in Partner or CRA user ID and password, then complete the required identity verification steps.
When signing-in for the first time, you may be presented with Terms and Conditions to review and accept. Then click on “register yourself” as a representative.
Your name on file will be displayed. It is not mandatory to enter your telephone and/or fax number.
Click “Next.”
Review your information and if it is correct, check the “Confirmation” box and click “Submit.”
On the confirmation page, your RepID will be shown. Make a note of it for your records.
